This story from the UK reports that a couple is suing their upstairs neighbors because they put in new Hardwood floors!

They claim the sound of their neighbours’ shoes on the wooden floors constitutes a “noise nuisance”, which has shattered their peace.

Redlining meets the GPS… Whats an Agent to do?

Redlining, the practice of drawing a red line around undesirable areas, has been against Real Estate Law for years.

By law I can’t tell you a neighborhood is Safe or Good… 
I can suggest you check crime stats or suggest you take a walk around and see how you feel.

Microsoft was just awarded a patent for software that makes its maps more pedestrian-friendly. It has been dubbed the “Avoid Ghetto” feature.
By tapping into crime statistics it will suggest “safer” routs for users.
I wonder when I’ll meet the first client that says, “My GPS says this is not a safe neighborhood.”

Whats going to happen to Fannie and Freddie?

An interesting article about two new bills being sponsored to deal with the messes at FannieMae and FreddieMac.

While neither is likely to pass, they both show continued Federal involvement in the housing market.
One Bill rolls Fannie and Freddie into one new bigger government organisation. 
The other would encourage the establishment of private organisations to accomplish the same tasks.

Both would operate backed by the Federal government and supported by additional fees passed on to buyers.
